{Post 1,418} Borrowed Time

I feel like I'm living on borrowed time now that I'm watching a baby again.  Every minute he is asleep is like gold.  I did not go to the sew-in at the library this morning because it ended up that I was watching Timmy.  Didn't have the energy to pack up my machine, iron, board, supplies, etc., as well as Timmy and all his supplies.  Oh, well.  Duty calls.

I had my Carolina Chain blocks all cut out, so I am squeezing in a few of those when I can.  I am nearly at the end of the stack.  See how it grows.

First 18:

Then there were 30:

Then 45:

Now up to 93:

This will be 40-1/2" wide.  I don't know how long yet, but I'll make it a nicely-shaped rectangle.  I am going to sew until I run out of pre-cut blocks, then I'll add enough to finish that row.

{Post 1,417} Sideline Project

This is my official leader/ender for the time being.  I put some blocks up on my 2 design walls to get an idea of what colors I am low in or overloaded with.  These are some easy HST blocks (in 2 sizes) and a bunch of squares.  I will cut some more to use as leader/enders when I (hopefully) go to the sew-in on Saturday from 9:30-12:30.  Can hardly wait.

This is a pattern from Red Crinoline Quilts (formerly Bonnie Blue) called "Glory Bound"  I am adding more blocks to make it 64" x 84".

Two blocks are missing from the layout in the second vertical row from the left.  Will soon be remedied.

{Post 1,416} Halfway There

Even when I'm looking at the real thing, it's hard to imagine how much smaller the finished piecing is.  This shows the top half sewn together and the bottom half with rows pieced but not sewn to each other.  Talk about shrinkage!!

{Post 1,415} Two Rows Together

This is the tiniest quilt ever.  I think I will have to keep it.  I was going to give it to someone, but it's soooo cute and soooo tiny.

A picture from the front and the back.  Look for that famous penny.

{Post 1,414} Lots of Sewing Today

I machine quilted two tops I have had pieced for some time.  One is a baby quilt for a soon-to-be-born baby, and the other (twin size) I will show after I present it to the new owner.

But I can show you these pictures.

See the dime and the penny in the last picture?  That is to show scale.  I tell ya...these pieces are tiny.  This is a "twister" pattern from Primitive Gatherings.  Eighty-one little 2-1/2" squares to start with, then trimmed down with the special template (the tiny, shiny square in the second picture--it's 1-1/2" square).  Then sewn back together.

I am supposed to press the seams open before sewing the rows together.  That can wait until tomorrow!

I had planned to do a couple painting projects tomorrow (my husband and daughter are out of town until Saturday night...DH doesn't like when I paint when he's home...can't stand the fumes), but now I'm watching Timmy most of the day (9 AM to 8:30 PM).  Maybe he will sleep a lot ;)
